St Patrick's day

  • WHAT ABOUT WEARING GREEN?

an Irish pinch! Ireland's nickname is "The Emerald Isle" because the grass on the hills is so green. Everyone wears the color green on St. Patrick's Day to honor The Emerald Isle. If someone forgets to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, those who are wearing green are allowed to give the offender a pinch as a reminder. However, if you pinch someone who is wearing green, that person gets to pinch you back ten times! Some of the biggest St. Patrick's Day parades are in Chicago, Illinois, New York City, and Savannah, Georgia. The city of Chicago goes so far to celebrate that they dye their river green!

Americans have a new president

In front of millions of people, Obama officially became the 44th president of the USA.

here are videos of this historic moment

Joe Biden's oath. he's the new vice-president.

Aretha Franklin sang My country 'Tis of Thee, also known as america. It's an American patriotic song. It was the American national anthem in the 19th century. (It sounds like the British anthem: "god save the king/ queen")

here to find the lyrics

Obama takes the oath of office No, no he didn't fluff !! The chief Justice simply mixed up words in the vow, so Obama waited for him to repeat the exact and correct words.

Barack Obama Takes The Oath Of Office

I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear, that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me god.>

Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and their two daughters then ate a meal. Then, they watched a parade. President Obama even danced when he heard music bands from Hawai. The family entered their new house. The presidential couple went to balls last night, the danced and danced all night long.

A plane landed... in Hudson River, NYC

here's an article about this event

A US Airways jetliner with 155 people aboard lost power in both engines, possibly from striking birds, after taking off from La Guardia Airport on Thursday afternoon. The pilot ditched in the icy Hudson River and all on board were rescued by a flotilla of converging ferries and emergency boats, the authorities said. >
